5.7.2 Materials Fasteners according to European Standards or European Technical Assessments (ETA) shall be used. Th e type of fastener with designation of the r elevant European Standard or ET A shall be specified. Th e fasten er materia ls shall be made of austenit ic stainless steel or aluminium. 5.7.3 Verification of suitability Fastenings a re subdivided into: a) thread-forming screws , subdiv i ded into: thread -forming self – tap ping screws , which produce their female threads in a swarfless manner in predrilled holes; thread-formi ng self-tapping screws (pierce tip) , which produce their f ema le threads in a swarfless manner without predrilled holes. b) blind rivets that comprise a ri vet sleeve and a rivet mandrel with a predetermined br eaking poin t. EN 1090 -3 sha ll apply for metric screws. Th e parts of the fastening that are completely or partially exposed to weathering or similar moistur e l oading shall be made from austenitic stainless steel or alum inium. Th is does not app ly to welded-on drill tips. For a rain proof connection or mounting , washers ma de of aluminium or austenitic stainless steel with a cured – on elastomer seal at le ast 2 , 0 mm thick or sa ddle was h ers with seal sha ll be inserted un der the h ea d of the fastener. 5.8 Accessories Accessories are components that are abso lutely necessa ry fo r the function of the construction but fo r which no analyses of the ultimate Ii mit state or serviceability Ii mit state shall be carried out , e.g. decking side trim , sealant strips , fill ers for profiled sheets or flashings. They sha ll fulfil the same requirements for durability , corrosion protection and reaction to fire as the structural aluminium components , if not specified. 5.9 Surface protection Verification of a corrosion protection system for a corrosivity category shall be carr ied out with reference to Clause 10 and Annex E of th is standard.
6 Manufacturing 6.1 General If the requirements of this European standard are not met , the manufacturing process sha ll not be used until corrected and ch ecked again. It may be used on a restricted range of constituent products that do p roduce confor ming results. Structura l aluminium components shall not have any cracks at the bended areas visible by the naked eye , if not othe rwi se specified. Holes may be punched full size without re amin g. 6.2 Identification At all stages of manufacturing each piece or package of similar pieces of structu ra l aluminium components shall be identifiable by a suitable system. 6.3 Cold forming Shaping by cold forming , produced either by roll forming or press breaking shall conform to the requirements for cold formability given in the relevant product standard and shall be manufactured considering the requirements in Clause 10 and within the tolerances specified in Clause 1 1.BS EN 1090-5 pdf download.
