ANSI INCITS 378:2019 pdf download.Information Technology一Finger Minutiae Format for Data Interchange.
ANSI INCITS 378 specifies a concept and data format for representation of fingerprints using the fundamental notion of minutiae. The data format is generic, in that it may be applied and used in a wide range of application areas where automated fingerprint recognition is involved. No application-specific requirements or features are addressed in this standard. The Standard contains definitions of relevant terms, a description of where minutiae shall be defined, a data format for containing the data, and conformance information.
2 Conformance
A system conforms to this standard for producing data interchange records if it satisfies the mandatory and implemented optional requirements herein for extraction of minutiae from a fingerprint image as specified in Clause 6 and the generation of a data interchange record as specified in Clause 7. A system conforms to this standard for using data interchange records if it can parse data interchange records that conform to Clause 7. A data record conforms to this standard if it satisfies the mandatory, and optional, if implemented, requirements for structure and content as specified in Clause 7.

The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this
American National Standard. All standards are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this

4 Normative Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
4.1 algorithm
A sequence of instructions that tells a biometric system how to solve a particular problem. An algorithm will have
a finite number of steps and is typically used by the biometric engine (i.e., the biometric system software).
4.2 base standard
Fundamental and generalized procedures that provides an infrastructure that may be used by a variety of applications, each of which may make its own selection from the options offered by them
4.3 biometric
Of or having to do with biometrics
NOTE The use of biometric as a noun, to mean biometric characteristic or biometric modality, is deprecated.
4.4 biometric data
Biometric sample at any stage of processing, biometric reference, biometric feature or biometric property
4.5 biometric sample
Analog or digital representation of biometric characteristics prior to biometric feature extraction process and obtained from a biometric capture device or biometric capture subsystem
NOTE A biometric capture device is a biometric capture subsystem with a single component.
4.6 biometric system
System for the purpose of the automated recognition of individuals based on their behavioral and biological characteristics.ANSI INCITS 378 pdf download.
