ANSI C63.15:2017 pdf download.Recommended Practice for the Immunity Measurement of Electrical and Electronic Equipment.
This recommended practice is intended to:
a) Identify preferred or optional immunity test methods
b) Describe specific measurement techniques
c) Suggest product performance criteria as applicable to general and specific products
d) Identify test instrumentation specifications
Wherever possible, existing voluntary standards are used and summarized. It should be noted that the techniques listed herein should in no way limit the user to a particular method to increase product immunity. The immunity levels in this document are recommendations. Should product classifications and types have other immunity levels that apply, those shall take precedence. Equipment developed for military applications should use MlLSTD461G2O151 or later editions for test procedures and test levels.
The conducted immunity and radiated immunity test methods in this recommended practice do not universally apply to every product. Applicable test methods should be selected. A qualified electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) engineer should document test planning and the rationale for using particular immunity tests.
In addition, this document complements the procedures for making emission measurements as specified in ANSI C63.4 (for unintentional radiator products and functions) and in ANSI C63.1O (for intentional radiator products and functions). These immunity test methods are intended to be used by manufacturers who want to maximize product reliability and reduce customer complaints by improving the immunity of their products. This additional immunity is generally beyond that required by applicable regulations, and often is based on correcting problems experienced in deployment that are not related to regulatory requirements. This recommended practice generally covers the frequency range 30 Hz to 10 GHz.
The annexes provide additional information that could be useful in performing immunity tests. Annex A provides a tutorial on immunity testing and lists performance criteria (pass criteria or fail criteria) from several standards. Annex B lists recommended test equipment. Annex C identifies the equivalencies between the provisions, figures, and tables in this document relative to the original source documents.
